In September 2013 Benevo purchased the Aversa manufacturing business and assets. The factory sits on a 10 ha site in Obor, Bucharest.
Founded in 1882, Aversa SA is a historic Romanian company of national importance. The company specializes in the manufacturing of specialty pumps and it counts the Cernavoda nuclear power plant amongst its key customers. The company’s performance gradually declined over the last decade and it was in insolvency since 2006.
Benevo purchased Aversa at auction by a joint venture between Benevo (through its subsidiary Blue Diamond) and Autoplast.
Benevo has already restarted production on site and is receiving pump orders. In time, Benevo will relocate the business to a more technologically advanced factory and plans to grow the pump manufacturing business from where it is today.
The acquisition is one of the largest in industry in Romania in recent years.
The Obor area is one of the highest density neighborhoods in Bucharest and is a highly established retail location, directly across the road is the most established fresh produce market in Romania. The Obor metro station is a 300m walk from the site.
